Burbank, Los Angeles; June 2007 - Award-winning MT Studios has recently added an Audient ASP510 to its set up, further expanding the studios’ offering. Earning a gold disc recording The Eels’ “Beautiful Freak” album shortly after opening in 1995, and going on to win acclaim with Trapt and The Punisher, MT Studio intends to continue its success with this most recent purchase.
The addition of Audient’s Surround Sound Controller makes the previously installed Audient ASP8024 fully 5.1 capable. Studio owner, Matt Thorne, explains: “I now have the perfect set up; I can go from stereo mixing to Surround Sound mixing with a push of a button via the Audient 510 controller.”
Already owning an Audient recording desk meant that the decision to invest in the ASP510 was an obvious one. “I had a clean signal path, easy routing and total transparency with the console, which I integrate with my array of vintage mic pres and compressors, to add colour when needed.
“I use the console’s 8 busses to mix to my DAW (L R C LF Ls Rs) at 96k 24bit. Now, with the addition of the 510, I am now able to offer my clients warm, analogue mixes in 5.1 surround sound.”
The ASP510 comprises a single height rack unit and a small desktop remote and integrates easily and seamlessly with any mixing console to provide comprehensive control of the monitoring and record functions for multiple surround sound formats including: 5.1, LCRS, Dolby Surround, DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, DTS, and SACD.
MT Studios has just finished mixing a live show for TRAPT in 5.1 Surround Sound, shot by Chris Sims for Time Code Entertainment. Downloadable via QuickTime 7 in 5.1 surround, it can be viewed on Apple TV or Computer in 5.1 surround or stereo.
