Spanish Producer Erentxu Takes Audient By The Horns

L-R: Anselmo Calleja, Mikel Erentxu and Jorge de la Torre with Erentxu’s ASP8024

San Sebastian, Spain; April 09 – A 36-channel Audient ASP8024 recording console was top of the list for Spanish-born Mikel Erentxu whilst recently upgrading his private studio. After dedicating 25 years of his life to composing and performing many of the most famous songs in Spain, he has now broadened his focus to include writing and producing for other artists. Following this diversification, Erentxu equipped his recording studio to the highest technical level, allowing him to offer a world class, professional service to his clients.

Already set up with a Logic Pro-based recording system, Erentxu had his mind set on an analogue desk for easy integration into the studio. After consulting with his engineers, he decided on the Audient ASP8024.

Anselmo Calleja, recording engineer on most of Erentxu’s projects, designed the whole system according to the artist’s requirements. Calleja is very pleased with the choice of desk. “The exceptional musicality of the board preamps and the very effective EQ are paramount features for the type of acoustic instruments we rely on for our recordings: acoustic guitars and acoustic drums.” Calleja continues, “The console is really flexible when it comes to record various musicians at one time, and all of them want different mixes as foldback.”

“The stunning quality of the analogue sum that is achievable from the DAW outputs by the ASP8024 is the final touch to our mixes. That’s what determined our choice,” concludes Calleja.

The desk was supplied by Audient’s Spanish distributor Reflexion Arts and installed by Erentxu’s FOH engineer Jorge de la Torre of Soinua, Eneko Larrañaga and Calleja.

Mikel Erentxu was a founding member of Duncan Dhu, one of the most successful pop bands on the Spanish music scene ever. His most recent live album release ‘Tres noches en el Victoria Eugenia’ includes collaboration with artists such as Enrique Bunbury, Amaia Montero, Leiva de Pereza and Ivan Ferreiro.
