Audient Gets In Training in France

Aubais, Southern France; January 2008 – A 24 channel ASP8024 recording console with patchbay was the perfect choice for family-owned SOLIS-PROD studios as the centre piece for their new venture: running professional training courses for roles within the recording industry.

Situated not far from Montpellier, the facility’s recent upgrade allows husband-and-wife team Patricia Desroches and Cédric Robert, owners of the already successful commercial studio, to draw on their own experiences to teach the sound professionals of the future.

“We wanted an analogue console,” says Cédric, also a guitarist/vocalist. “Something to look and sound professional, but that wouldn’t break the bank. We spoke to Pierre Valentin at Funky Junk who recommended that we try the Audient.

“It was an obvious choice. We like the musicality of the EQ, and the bus compressor is great,” Cédric comments. Unusually for the studio business, his wife Patricia is the sound engineer and combines her talents as a musician (keyboard, composition) with running the mixing and mastering courses at SOLIS-PROD.

Patricia explains: “With a maximum of four students on each music production course, they are in a professional environment with all equipment placed at their disposal. The small class size allows each student – anybody from songwriters and musicians to private individuals wishing to improve their knowledge of audio recording - to really benefit from a more personalised approach, with the Audient console at the centre of the studio.

“The desk itself is flexible and transparent, and the signal path is very easy to follow. Recording and mixing using the Audient provides indispensible training for students to understand the recording process, and by gradually adding plug-ins and hardware peripherals, allows them each to experience every stage of music production.”

“The price was excellent,” Cédric says. “With Audient you get so much for your money – and it really looks professional!”
