Dumfries, June 2008 – Scottish studio, Gridlock Music has enhanced its capability with the addition of an Audient ASP8024 mixing console, ensuring that the facility maintains its ‘pure’ recording environment.

“We are an analogue-based studio, so we were keen to go for an analogue desk to compliment our much-loved Studer A827 Gold Edition 2-inch tape machine,” explains Nik Walker, one of three brothers who run south-west Scotland’s Gridlock Music.

Nik describes the reasoning behind the purchase of the 36-channel recording console: “The desk has all the features that we could ask for. The mic pre-amps sound great, the short/long fader set-up makes it very user-friendly and the solo features are very straight-forward. The backlighting is inspired: it shows whether the signal on the channel is tape or mic, making the desk very easy to work with for long periods of time.

“We have been able to put the desk through its paces more recently, as we are working with a new vocalist,” Walker says. He is talking about Amy Anderson-Law, the newest signing for Gridlock Records, the record company affiliated with the studio. The Walker brothers have been busy recording new material with Anderson-Law which will be available for download in the next month, ahead of her debut album launch in September.

Analogue mixing provides the clarity and quality demanded of the best ears in the business for both tracking and mixing stages, and the ASP8024’s future-proof design ensures its continued compatibility and seamless integration with digital equipment. With innovative design and construction processes, the ASP8024 delivers exceptional audio quality and features at an unrivalled price.

Walker confirms the quality of the sound, “We’re happy to say that the Audient console enables us to capture and process a very real analogue sound without compromise. Overall, it’s excellent!”
