ASP8024 Ideal for El Choque

The Team

Ronda, October 2004 – Andalusian El Choque Ideal Studio (directly translated: The Ideal Crash) has taken delivery of a 36-channel ASP8024 console to upgrade their facility in Ronda. Formerly known as EnfrenteArte, the studio has been recently taken over and restyled by Dirk van den Bosch who purchased the Audient ready to relaunch later on this month.

'We wanted a console which combined a transparent signal path and included bus compressor, musical EQ and stunning high quality mic preamp at a reasonable price,' explains van den Bosch. 'We had looked at second hand vintage models which although at the right price point, wouldn’t have been without problems. Then FX Rentals in Barcelona introduced us to the Audient. I checked out its reputation on the internet, and we could only find great reviews! The decision was clinched when our resident engineer, Phelan Kane, confirmed he’d used it himself in London, and recommended it personally. With his experience working with Placebo, Radiohead and Dido, I know we’ve made the right decision.'

Van den Bosch has timed the reopening of the studio to coincide with the five week regional live music and culture festival 'Ronda Personal', organised by the studio, Hotel EnfrenteArte and Los Caireles. El Choque Ideal Studio will be hosting some of the concerts at their facility.

'Five up-and-coming Belgian bands will be doing live recordings in our 120m2 main room. Not only is this a fantastic opportunity for them to perform in a foreign country, it also allows more people to see the restyled studio and hear the new Audient console. We are sure the results will be great,' enthuses Van den Bosch.

The ASP8024 represents a new standard in cost effective analogue recording – delivering a product that is truly ‘technology-proof’, while at the same time providing the familiar functionality and the performance required to integrate with modern recording systems.
