Lisbon - January 2004: Audient understands the importance of passing the skills and techniques of music production onto a new generation of would be sound engineers and musicians.
As such it has further strengthened its position within the educational market with another sale of its ASP8024 flagship studio console, this time to the Portuguese Restart: School of Creativity & New Technologies (Escola de Criatividade e Novas Tecnologias), where it is being used by Diploma students as an educational tool to teach recording and mixing.
Based at the heart of Parque das Nações, the school opened in May 2003 and specializes as a professional training centre. Vitor Hugo, Technical Director, explains, "Restart is establishing itself in a new era of education and entertainment, with the main learning areas being Image, Sound, Interactivity and Events."
He tells us about the choice of desk: "The Audient ASP8024 allows the user to quickly access any function, making it very easy to teach with, whilst at the same time providing great quality sound performance." He continues, "The console is being worked hard: for 14 hours a day teachers and students record and mix with it in close connection with Protools HD. Without the Audient things would be very different, both sonically and financially!?"
Restart School currently runs over 25 diploma courses and workshops which aim to extend and widen students? knowledge acquired through academic and/or professional backgrounds, using a hands-on training approach. "We believe in mistake allowance as a means of learning and focus on team training. Most of all we encourage creative and active thought," says Hugo.
ASP8024 was supplied by Audient's distributor in Portugal, NAN.
