Top Paris Agency FLAM chooses Audient

Flam

Paris, France; July 2007 – Successful production agency FLAM, known for their work with Vanessa Paradis, the Gipsy Kings and Air, has chosen Audient’s ASP8024 desk for their latest Paris-based studio BUZZ, which is headed up by two of their skilled producer/engineers, Bruno Dejarnac and Arnaud Bascunana.

Dejarnac and Bascunana, both rising stars listed on the FLAM agency books, were involved in the early stages of equipping the new studio. The choice of desk in particular was not a decision that was taken lightly. Bascunana explains, "We chose the Audient for two reasons: sound and price. The Audient is great value and it sounds really good. The more I use it the more features I admire: the bus compressor is great, the EQs are useful and I love the pre-amps.

"We have a 24 channel model, but it becomes 48 channels in a mixing situation. It’s a pleasure to work with a real in-line console," Bascunana continues. "A big Pro Tools system and the Audient analogue desk together prove to be the best way to work in the 21st century; the desk is particularly versatile when you record live performances.

"The sound of the Audient console is really sympathetic to the style of music we record," Bascunana concludes.

Situated in a restored old house in a peaceful street in the centre of Paris, FLAM’s newest addition, BUZZ, is a mid-sized facility with one control room and two studios. It is mainly occupied by Dejarnac and Bascunana, although commercial clients may be booked in, rota permitting. Organised and managed by FLAM, forthcoming projects at BUZZ span many genres from TIKEN JAH FAKOLY (reggae) to 80BLAST (indie metal) to BBC (urban hip hop jungle fusion) to BASCHUNG (French rock).

Bruno Dejarnac explains, "Opening the studio to other engineers means that the console has to be easy to handle – the Audient is certainly that. There’s nothing to give you a headache!"

Running for ten years and based in Paris for seven, FLAM agency keeps a comprehensive range of producers, engineers, arrangers and composers on their books and handpicks them for each client, according to musical genre and budget.

Freddy Lamotte, general manager of FLAM, explains "We now manage some of their private studios in addition to managing and hiring out producers, sound engineers and composers. This enables them to concentrate on music and allows us to offer more varied proposals - and therefore better value".

"Choosing Audient wasn’t a complete leap of faith," laughs Lamotte. "Another of the studios we run, CALM, already has Audient’s microphone pre-amp, so we knew the quality was going to be good."
